Puerto Rico Surf Spots
La Pared
A beach break with good waves for beginners and advanced surfers. “La Pared” means the wall in Spanish, which is an apt description of this spot because it’s shaped like one.
Cabezas de San Juan
Great spot to learn how to surf as well as have a whole lot of fun! The water here has some strong currents so be sure not to go out too far when you’re surfing or your trip could end up being even shorter than you imagined.
Boquerón
Another beginner friendly area but crowded on high season days (reserve your private lesson ahead of time!) There are many other spots that we visit depending on the skill-level of the surfer.
Rincon
Rincon Puerto Rico is an amazing surf spot. It is on the northern coast and has a small surf break that works best for beginner surfers. Rincon is great because it offers more of a relaxed atmosphere, with lots of hammocks to relax in after surfing or enjoying other water activities!
Lajas
Lajas Puerto Rico is another fantastic spot to explore while you are visiting our beautiful island. Lajas can be found along the southern coastline and provides an amazing view as well as good waves breaks for any level surfer. You will find this area crowded during weekends when locals come out to enjoy themselves but otherwise it’s usually less busy than some other areas around here.
Your Best Summer
Of course, finding the best surf spot is a matter of personal opinion. There are plenty of other breaks to choose from and some are far more crowded than others. Visit as many as you can and talk it over with more experienced friends to find your favorite. Before long you will have a handful of favorite Puerto Rico surf spots of your own. Foam is your friend. Don’t be scared of it. A little bit of extra foam here and there is good for the soul, and your surfing
Surf Lessons in Puerto Rico
Surf wax is important to any surfer. After all, it’s what prevents you from slipping and falling off of your board. It’s the surf wax that provides traction and grip on the board, without which all of the surf lessons in Puerto Rico wouldn’t help you catch a wave. Knowing how to apply surf wax in the right way could make the difference between catching the wave of your dreams or experiencing a heart-breaking wipeout. The first thing you should learn about wax as a part of your Puerto Rico surf lessons is the difference between the distinct grades of surf wax.
