The History of Surfing in San Juan, Puerto Rico can be traced back to the early 1900s. The first recorded surfer is a man named George Freeth who was born and raised on the island of Hawaii. This love for surfing spread across the world and found its way to our beautiful island, San Juan. The first surfers were part of the Puerto Rican National Guard. The group was stationed on a remote island and surfing became their hobby to pass the time.
